Obituary

Charmaine Althea Lee-Beezer, affectionately known by family and friends as Charm, was born in Time and Patience, St. Catherine, Jamaica on December 28, 1958. Charm was the fourth of 10 children for her parents Kenneth and Urah Lee who predeceased her. During her early life, Charmaine attended the Time and Patience Elementary school and the Primary/Middle school in her community.

While growing up, Charmaine was taught great values including Godly principles, morals and industriousness by her parents, with the help of her two older sisters. It did not take long though, for them to notice that Charmaine was a quick learner as well as an excellent cook and baker. Charm loved to cook so much, that she would hardly allow her mother and sisters to help her. So, it was no surprise when she specialized in Home Economics studies during her last two years at McGrath High School, (located three miles from home) – to develop her cooking skills.

Driven by ambition to be a qualified and efficient worker, Charmaine later attended Fitz Henly Business College in Jamaica, where she acquired business management skills. She was later employed as Canteen Manager for two years, by one of Jamaica’s bauxite companies, Alcan Ewarton Works. Her responsibilities included guiding her staff to prepare three meals per day for over two thousand workers.

In addition to her secular life, Charmaine continued to grow in her knowledge about Jehovah God that her father kept teaching her. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1976 while attending the Time and Patience congregation.

As time progressed, Charmaine recognized that she wanted to teach teens Home Economics, so she relocated to Kingston in the mid 1980s for further training at Vocational Institute V.T.D.I. and the University of Technology. She became a school teacher of Home Economics in Kingston, Jamaica at Edith Dalton James High for one year and at Pembroke Hall High for 10 years. She also taught briefly at Kingston Technical High. Charmaine was dearly loved by students and co-workers, many of whom maintained communication with her.

She met Joseph Beezer in Kingston in 1992 and he subsequently became the love of her live. They got married January 1, 1994 and the union produced one child, their beloved son JomaineCharmaine’s treatment to her household, was as described at Proverbs 31:12 – “She rewards him with good, not bad, all the days of her life”. It was always a pleasure for Charmaine to use her culinary skills to make mouth-watering meals and cakes for her household and she knew that her family greatly appreciated it. As a lover of Jehovah and her spiritual brothers and sisters, Charmaine worked hard with them often in field service and when possible, she would happily share meals and cake with them that she prepared. It was also a pleasure for her to cook and bake cake for circuit overseers and Bethel representatives.

Charmaine was brilliant and educated but so humble that she rarely ever talked about her secular achievements. In sports, she was also a very good netball player in high school but did not say much about it. However, you could not get her to stop boasting about Jehovah and speaking well about her spiritual brothers and sisters. She also spoke very well about her family and relatives but never missed the opportunity to fearlessly offer scriptural advice to any of them who she felt needed it. Charmaine was a part of the Balmogee, Waltham and Molynes congregations in Kingston where she had many friends.

In the year 2000, Charmaine and her family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where she worked with AT&T services in the marketing department. However, she continued her excellent cooking and baking as many relatives and friends know. She handled her platform assignments very well and for many years during the summer, she and Joseph did auxiliary pioneering. One of her favorite songs was song #30. She also enjoyed Cart Witnessing with friends. Charmaine served Jehovah faithfully for 48 years and remained at the Ft. Lauderdale Central, English congregation until her passing. She made many friends there.

Leaving a good example for us to follow, Charm is survived by husband Joseph, son Jomaine (who she taught to never leave Jehovah), 5 sisters, 4 brothers, 4 brothers in law, 3 sisters in law, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. We look forward to seeing Charmaine again in happy times because of the resurrection hope that Jehovah God promises at Acts 24:15.
