Blinken in Jordan for Talks on Israel-Hamas War, Gaza Humanitarian Crisis
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is in Amman, Jordan, following a trip to Israel for talks on the Israel-Hamas war. In Amman, Blinken has been meeting with Jordanian officials, along with Arab foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Qatar, as well as the secretary-general of the Palestine Liberation Organization’s executive committee. They have been meeting to craft plans to bring an end to Gaza’s humanitarian crisis and the war between Israel and Hamas. Blinken also met Saturday with Lebanon’s caretaker prime minister, Najib Mikati. Ahead of the Blinken visit, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said in a statement that Israel must end the war on Gaza, where he said it is committing war crimes by bombing civilians and imposing a siege.
